    As Primetimer's Joe Reid writes today, Katherine Langford's return to Netflix this weekend sees the 13 Reasons Why star join an ersatz repertory company of actors who've appeared in multiple projects on the streamer. Her new series Cursed offers an alternate take on the legend of King Arthur, asking: what if the sword chose a queen?

    Also this weekend: Amazon drops the third season of Absentia, The Last Dance leaps to Netflix, Disney+ drops an original movie aimed at second borns everywhere, and Black Monday airs its season finale. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this weekend:

    FRIDAY JULY 17

    SERIES PREMIERE: Based on the illustrated novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, the fantasy drama Cursed follows Nimue (Katherine Langford) a teenage sorceress who encounters a young Arthur (Devon Terrell) and accompanies him on his search for a legendary sword.     SEASON PREMIERE: Emily Byrne (Stana Katic) returns in the third season of Absentia, in which she continues to fight for her family, and the truth, even as the world seems to be conspiring against her. Watch the trailer. Streaming on Prime Video

    PREMIERE MOVIE: Like the Jan Brady of action heroes, Sam (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) lives in the shadow of her older, spotlight-hogging sister, but as The Secret Society of Second-Born Royals posits, that just may be the perfect position from which a member of the royal family can ensure the safety of the kingdom, and her loved ones.     NEW EPISODE: In its latest horrific installment, Into the Dark: The Current Occupant introduces viewers to a patient in a mental institution who begins to suspect he is actually the President of the United States, the only question is whether he's losing his mind, or the people around him are.     NEW EPISODE: The final four queens participate in a stand-up smackdown on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, where guest judges Sam Richardson and Jane Krakowski will weigh in on their performances. 8:00 PM ET on VH1

    ENCORE BROADCAST: Already pushing the limits of its title, last night's the reunion event 30 Rock: A One-Time Special is getting an encore performance tonight, airing simultaneously across a host of NBCUniversal channels starting at 9:00 PM ET on USA, E!, Bravo, and Syfy

    SATURDAY JULY 18

    CABLE PREMIERE: HBO's big Saturday night movie premiere this week is Harriet. The 2019 film tells the dramatic true story of Harriet Tubman (Cynthia Erivo), who escaped slavery and fought to ensure the freedom of countless others. Watch the trailer. 8:00 PM ET on HBO

    MADE FOR TV MOVIE: Emma Kirk (Helena Mattsson) moves to the country to give her daughter Beatrice (Emma Fuhrmann) a simpler life in Murder in the Vineyard. After an idyllic start, and a romance with Bryan (Matthew Erick White), the high school golden boy, things take a sudden turn for the worse, when Beatrice become the target of unknown, mysterious bullies. Can Emma keep her daughter safe when the harassment takes a violent turn? And what are the chances Bryan isn't all he's cracked up to be? 8:00 PM ET on Lifetime

    NEW EPISODE: Randy faces clients with two very different mindsets on Say Yes to the Dress. While one knows exactly what she wants on a her wedding day (and it's odd), the other cannot seem to make up her mind. 8:00 PM ET on TLC

    SERIES PREMIERE: Adapted from the bestselling book by Caleb Carr, the crime drama The Alienist: Angel of Darkness picks up where The Alienist left off, as stars Daniel Bruhl, Luke Evans, and Dakota Fanning maneuver the psychological minefield of decadence, innovation, and hardship of 1896 New York. While going through more than three dozen boxes of evidence, she begins to see similarities between a string of burglaries in the 1970s and the case of the Golden State Killer. 10:00 PM ET on HBO
