Today's programming highlights include a live awards show, a historic public hearing, and a pair of series finales. Here's what's new and noteworthy this Wednesday:

AWARD SHOW: Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire join Carrie Underwood as special guest hosts for tonight's 53rd Annual CMA Awards, which is scheduled to kick off with an all-star opening performance from a muti-generational group of legendary female country performers. Also scheduled to appear tonight: Luke Combs, Eric Church, Maren Morris, Zach Williams, P!nk, Chris Stapeltone, Keith Urban, and Miranda Lambert. 8:00 PM ET on ABC

LIVE COVERAGE:  While it remains to be seen whether the House Impeachment Hearings can convince doubters that Donald Trump used the Office of the President for personal gain, live gavel-to-gavel coverage promises to be a perfectly-timed test of relevance for broadcast and cable TV. 10:00 AM ET on ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, CSPAN and others

SEASON FINALE: The puzzle pieces have been falling into place as the mystery of Camp Redwood has deepened. On tonight's season finale of American Horror Story: 1984, a final lost soul is lured to the camp. 10:00 PM ET on FX

NEW EPISODE: As Primetimer's Jessica Liese writes, this season's Survivor has taken a surprising turn, tackling race and gender issues with unusual nuance. The show reaches its traditional halfway point tonight with The Merge, an occasion typically marked with a feast. 8:00 PM ET on CBS

NEW EPISODE: Last week saw the unmaskings of singers Sherri Shepherd and Raven-Symoné, which leaves the The Masked Singer with five remaining mystery performers. Meanwhile, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog adds to the insightful panel commentary. 8:00 PM ET on FOX
