With shows about loathsome families all the rage on TV, HBO is following up tonight's episode of Succession with its latest entry in the genre, The Righteous Gemstones. Today's other TV highlights include a trio of documentaries and a concert that fans of Downton Abbey are sure to enjoy.

SERIES PREMIERE: From Danny McBride, creator and star of HBO's Eastbound & Down and Vice Principals, comes another unconventional dark comedy. The Righteous Gemstones follows a family of hypocritical preachers, led by Dr. Eli Gemstone (John Goodman), that leads an obscenely opulent lifestyle at the expense of their unwitting congregation. But when a compromising tape surfaces, the ensuing blackmail plot sets the family scrambling. The series costars McBride, Adam Devine (Modern Family), and Walton Goggins (Justified, Vice Principals). Watch the preview. 10:00 PM ET on HBO

NEW EPISODE: Speaking of corrupt families in turmoil, Succession is back for another week of backstabbing and corporate scheming. The Roy siblings continue their tactical maneuvering, with Shiv, arguably the show's most popular character at the moment, letting Tom in on her plans at Waystar as well as on the campaign. 9:00 PM ET on HBO

DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE: On what would have been the his 67th birthday, I Am Patrick Swayze takes a look at the life and career of the classically trained dancer turned actor and heart throb, who sky-rocketed to international fame in films like Dirty Dancing and Ghost. Watch the preview. 9:00 PM ET on Paramount Network

CONCERT SPECIAL: Recorded on the grounds of Highclere Castle, Downton Abbey Live is an official celebration of the globally popular show and its music, accompanied by video montages featuring clips from the show's six seasons, and perhaps a sneak peak at the upcoming movie. 9:00 PM ET on PBS

DOCUMENTARY SPECIAL: New Coke figured prominently in the third season of Stranger Things this summer, perfect timing for History Channel's Cola Wars, which examines the long-running, multibillion dollar rivalry between the Coca-Cola Company and Pepsi, centering on the infamous launch of New Coke and the way it ultimately turned the industry on its head. 9:00 PM ET on History Channel
