Much ink has been spilled about the "moral panic" over HBO's Euphoria and its nihilist depiction of modern teendom (not to mention its taboo-breaking penchant for male nudity), but as the series wraps up its first season, it's also earning praise for showing a more nuanced human side of its characters.

HBO has already renewed the series for a second season, but earlier this week the network's boss warned those who may be hoping for a long-run that the show has a "time limit," owing to its high school setting.

SEASON FINALE: Fan speculation over who (if anyone) might die in tonight's season finale of Euphoria has hit a fever pitch in recent days. HBO isn't saying much, but the show's action-packed promo suggests there will be at least one violent situation. 10:00 PM ET on HBO

NEW SEASON: Netflix's Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj returns today. In a TV landscape with no shortage of political comedy, Patriot Act is the one we're calling "the best new talk show in recent memory." No, it's not a classic talker in the Letterman mold, but as a contemporary descendant of The Daily Show, it carries on that show's legacy of informing the audience while entertaining them. It's Minhaj's unique energy — youthful, cocky, smart, and informed without being heavy about it — that makes Patriot Act such a swift watch. Streaming on Netflix

SEASON PREMIERE: The fourth season of AMC's Preacher will be the show's last. Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy make their bloody way to the Most High, trying to avoid the prophecies, prisons, and nuclear war that plagues their way as God's endgame for the universe begins to click into place. Is all this carnage is part of His divine plan? We'll have to watch to find out. 9:00 PM ET on AMC

SPECIAL PRESENTATION: The four-day Nashville festival for country music CMA Fest gets a three-hour presentation on ABC tonight. Performances include such momentous pair-ups as Maren Morris and Brandi Carlisle, Carrie Underwood with Joan Jett, and the newly minted longest-running Billboard #1 of all time, Lil' Nas X, performing onstage with Billy Ray Cyrus and Keith Urban. Kelsea Ballerini and Thomas Rhett host the event. 8:00 PM ET on ABC

    • 90-Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days follows seven Americans overseas, where they are hoping to end up engaged to someone they've fallen in love with online. The couples get to know each other in a foreign land with the ultimate goal of being together in America. 8:00 PM ET on TLC
    • Worst Cooks in America sets 14 of the worst cooks in the country up for a culinary book camp, overseen by Anne Burrell and Bobby Flay. 9:00 PM ET on Food Network
    • Serengeti is a new nature series from American Idol mastermind Simon Fuller, taking viewers to the wilds of Tanzania and the unspoiled plains called the Serengeti, with all the thrilling wildlife therein. 8:00 PM ET on Discover
