They say a rising tide lifts all boats, and that certainly seems to have been the case with HBO's spring season. With Game of Thrones drawing eyeballs to the network like a giant, fire-breathing magnet, every other show around it has managed to benefit. Veep rolled in for a strong ending to its final season. Barry may well have won Bill Hader a repeat Emmy with its superb second season stretch of episodes. And now, even as the embers have cooled in King's Landing and Game of Thrones has receded a bit from the conversation, HBO programming is still killing it. Chernobyl was a surprise ratings hit and has become the word-of-mouth success of the season. And Gentleman Jack, co-produced by HBO and the BBC was the the beeb's biggest series launch this year, earning it an early Season 2 pickup. So don't fret tonight's Gentleman Jack finale.
