Survivor Makes History as Jeff Probst Calls Off Treacherous Challenge

  • Jeff Probst made Survivor history Wednesday night when he stopped an immunity challenge due to concerns that someone might drown in treacherous ocean waters. While Jonathan's tribe completed the first portion of the challenge, which required castaways to drag a ladder off the bottom of the ocean floor and use it to grab a key that unlocked a sandbag game, the massive waves and dangerous swells were too much for the other two tribes to overcome, and Probst ultimately decided to call everyone in.

"All right, both tribes, drag your ladders in. Come in!" Probst called from the beach. "Due to no lack of effort on your part, this is not getting any easier. We're gonna retrieve your keys and give them to you, and we'll continue the challenge from here. Sound fair? Never done this in the history of Survivor."

Ultimately, Drea helped push her tribe to victory with a well-placed sandbag toss, prompting some maneuvering by Chanelle and Hai Giang, the undisputed Player of the Week.

Survivor airs Wednesdays at 8:00 PM ET on CBS.
