Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Ted Cruz for Searching His Own Name on Twitter

  • If Ted Cruz really does have a Google alert set for his name, the Texas senator likely saw Jimmy Kimmel's Cruz-centric monologue from Thursday night. Over the course of six minutes, the late night host repeatedly took aim at Cruz, who he insisted "out-slimed himself" with his attack on Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.

"On Tuesday, he singled out this children's book called Antiracist Baby for promoting Critical Race Theory, which it actually doesn't," recapped Kimmel. "He said the book teaches that 'Babies are born racist,' which it also doesn't. And, as a result of Ted's tirade, that book is now No. 1 on Amazon." The ABC host went on to joke that "since Cruz's little grandstand, Amazon is also seeing a spike in sales of psoriasis medication, wart-remover, nose-hair trimmers, male Spanx, slug repellent, and mullet combs."

But even amid a banner week for the senator, it was Cruz's narcissism that shocked Kimmel the most. "If you're wondering what Ted Cruz was really focused on during the hearings, somebody got a shot of him on his phone yesterday searching for his own name on Twitter. How embarrassing," he said. "And can you imagine being Ted Cruz and still wanting to know what people were saying about you online?"

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 PM ET on ABC.
