Ann and Chris Left Pawnee on Parks and Rec 7 Years Ago Today

  • On January 30, 2014, the 13th episode of the sixth season of Parks and Recreation aired on NBC, simply entitled "Ann and Chris." It was a heartfelt goodbye to two of the most beloved characters on the show, Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones) and Chris Traeger (Rob Lowe), who were leaving Pawnee to move to Michigan.

The only person who didn't "belove" Ann was April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza), who spent most of the show heaping verbal abuse on her, as was her way. But on the eve of leaving, Ann even got April to admit that she loved her, much to her chagrin.

Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) was Ann's best friend, and if Leslie did anything over the course of this show, she made it cool to be earnest. She always wore her heart on her sleeve, and thus her farewell to Ann is one of the most emotional moments of the entire series, as she tried to fulfill a promise she made from Season 1 and break ground on the park project that started their friendship in the first place.

Even the normally stoic Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) offered an olive branch of sympathy to the heartbroken Leslie. "There's no sadness that can't be cured by breakfast food."

Parks and Recreation is now streaming on Peacock.
