Apple announced this morning that its new streaming TV service is slated to launch this fall in more than 100 countries, but it didn't reveal an exact release date or whether the service would cost any money. Apple's upfronts-like presentation featured many of the big names it had signed, from Steven Spielberg to Oprah Winfrey to Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Apple TV+ will be part of Apple's new Apple TV app, which will allow viewers to bring together cable channels and streaming services like HBO, Hulu, Cinemax and Showtime and cable service providers like Spectrum and DirecTV all in one place. “TV is more than just entertainment, it’s cultural,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said Monday at a presentation at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. “TV at its best enriches our lives and we can share it with people we love.”
The renewals of both scripted dramas are the first since the Disney deal closed making Fox an independent broadcast network.
On Sunday, Bloomberg reported that YouTube was bowing out of the "Hollywood Arms Race" for high-quality scripted shows for its YouTube Premium service. The report, citing YouTube dropping sci-fi drama Origin, echoed The Hollywood Reporter's story last November that YouTube was pulling back on scripted programming. A YouTube rep, however, denied the report, pointing out that the video service had several drama and comedy scripted shows in the works.

But to open the NFL's 100th season on NBC, the league has decided to celebrate its most historic rivalry: Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers, which began in 1921. The Bears-Packers game will open the NFL season on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Soldier Field in Chicago. The defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, meanwhile, will play on the first Sunday night of the season on NBC.
