Jussie Smollett makes brief court appearance -- his legal team says they welcome "cameras" in courtroom

The Empire star's brief appearance today comes two days before his formal arraignment Thursday on 16 felony counts of lying to police about his alleged hate crime. “The evidence against Mr. Smollett is demonstrably false," Smollett attorney Tina Glandian told reporters. "We welcome cameras in the courtroom so the public and media can see the actual evidence and what we believe is going to be, actually, a lack of evidence against Mr. Smollett.” Meanwhile, Smollett's rep says he showed up to court today “to show confidence in his innocence." ALSO: Smollett appears in zero of 38 new Empire promotional photos.
