HGTV has cancelled its show Rehab Addict after Nicole Curtis' controversial clip went viral. RadarOnline released an unaired clip from an episode of the show, which was filmed in 2022. In it, Nicole appeared to be frustrated with a project and blurted out the N-word without realising.

Meanwhile, the crew members could be heard laughing when Curtis said it. She quickly asked and confirmed if she really said the N-word out loud, then asked a crew member to "kill" the footage.

"Oh, fart n****r... what the f**k is that, that I just said? Nick you gotta... Can you kill that? F**k my life," she said.

The home restoration show Rehab Addict started in 2010. Back then, it aired on DIY Network. From the fourth season onwards, the television show moved to HGTV. After the clip went viral, the network shared a statement with Deadline, noting that Nicole's use of the slur does not reflect HGTV's values.

The television channel insisted that it is dedicated to maintaining a "culture of respect and inclusion." The statement also confirmed that the show has been canceled and its previous episodes have been removed from Discovery+ and HBO Max.

Last year, Nicole Curtis shelved the ninth season of Rehab Addict mid-run. This month, she announced that the remaining episodes will begin airing on Feb. 11. However, the sudden cancellation of the show caused the schedule to be canceled.

Nicole Curtis has apologized for using the slur

The television personality apologized via an Instagram post. However, she deleted it after some time. Nicole wrote in her Instagram story that there was more to the story and that she was focused on her two sons, ages 28 and 10.

Nicole Curtis promised her followers she would be "transparent and honest" with them. She also posted her statement on TMZ, in which the 49-year-old said she was grateful to HGTV for the long-running show.

Nicole Curtis stated that the N-word is "wrong" and has never been part of her vocabulary. She shared that at the moment, her family, relationships, and community are her priority.

TMZ reported that the television personality was unaware that HGTV cancelled her show. Nicole Curtis then uploaded her apology on Instagram again. She said that she is "filled with remorse and regret."

She confirmed that the footage is from 2022 and claimed that the word was accidentally uttered as she has been "submerged in the African American community" for years. Nicole Curtis stated that she heard the word numerous times in music and in her daily life, as she lives and works in Minneapolis and Detroit.

"I show this, I say this and I realize you are getting a limited view as what has been circulating is a clip of MY footage that was stolen then manipulated, edited and sold to a tabloid to coincide with my return to television only to create this chaos of hate, anger, disappointment," she wrote.

Despite her apology, netizens have continued to dismiss it, claiming the slur is supposedly part of her regular vocabulary. Others wondered how Nicole Curtis' N-word controversy is connected to her family and kids.

"Babe .. you dropped a hard ER.. it’s most definitely in your vocabulary," one Instagram user wrote.
"Now you focusing on your family and community.. yt people always have excuses when they are wrong address it apologize and move on," one netizen wrote.
"You can tell she say it all the tine because the man holding ladder didn't flinch and the other guy laughed!" another user added.
