In a story on Bob Iger's exit amid Disney +'s development struggles, The Hollywood Reporter's Natalie Jarvey reports that the 12 Years a Slave Oscar-winning screenwriter and American Crime creator Ridley was developing a "never-announced" Tron adaptation of the classic 1982 sci-fi film. Jarvey was also able to read the script for the scrapped Lizzie McGuire revival that was deemed too mature for Disney+'s audience, leading to creator Terri Minsky's firing. Jarvey writes that the revival "acknowledges the existence of sex with cheating as a central plot point." Jarvey also read the pilot for Love, Victor, the Love, Simon reboot TV series that was recently moved from Disney+ to Hulu. "The pilot script for Love, Simon, which THR has read, explores the lead character’s struggle with coming out as gay, as well as issues like marital tension and teen fighting," Jarvey writes. "At the time of the move, sources noted that those themes, as well as topics like alcohol use, were a concern for Disney+ execs, who worried about families watching with young kids."
